carrie a. dyer was born in ronoake, virginia, and grew up in johnson city, tennessee. in 2006 she graduated with her mfa from the school of the art institute of chicago. in 2004 she received her bfa from east tennessee state university. she has worked in the graphic design field for nine years as a freelance designer as well as a graphic designer for plus mark a subsidiary of american greetings. dyer's work includes projects involving social and environmental campaigns. for the last fourteen years dyer has worked as a studio artist. she has exhibited in national, and international exhibitions.
 
professional accomplishments
Recent graphic design projects include freelance web design, and collateral for the No New Coal Campaign. My personal work has been selected to exhibit in a national traveling group exhibition [The Squirrelly Girl exhibit] this summer. In addition, my work has been exhibited in national juried exhibitions including the Positive / Negative Exhibition two years in a row. In December 2007 I was invited to have a solo show at The University of North Carolina, Greensboro. The same year I was selected to be an artist featured in “Pilcrow,” an international collaborative artist book. The Southern Appalachian International Film Festival Selected my video work to be screened in Bristol, Chattanooga, Johnson City, and Knoxville, TN. The Film was selected to become a part of the collection “Archives of Appalachia,” at the Center for Appalachian Studies.
